Why do your blogs fail?

by Ali Hussain on February 22, 2009

There are numerous blogs online today; personal journals where people elaborate on things they like, business blogs that advertise a particular product, blogs that deal with a hot niche. Personal lives and politics, technology and products, everything goes. The problem is that the vast majority of these blogs fails – they do not gain any substantial readership and exposure and fail to serve their initial purpose, whatever that is.

Why do most blogs fail?

  1. People are not writing machines. Writing constantly well is something that cannot fit most of the people, who cannot follow this kind of rhythm for a long time. If you want to provide quality material you need to be able to write unperturbed, in a gripping way. Some people are not born writers and they cannot find the time or the mood to write on a daily basis. Outsourcing is a great option in this case.

  2. Burnout and lack of motivation. Sometimes people get bored or simply tired. They cannot find the reason to keep doing it. Blogging requires a certain degree of commitment that most people are not capable of making. If you think that producing less content can increase its quality, then do so. Protect yourself from mental burnout as much as possible.

  3. Lack of promotion. Most people think that producing interesting content is enough to drive readers to their blog. This is far from the truth though; blogs need marketing, the same way a business needs to be promoted. Readership equals to exposure. As long as your exposure levels are low, your traffic will be low too. Promote your blog online, in social networks, adding positive comments in other people’s blogs. Be social and active.

  4. Impatience. Writers and business bloggers are usually impatient. They want to see results right away, although this is not actually possible. Patience and persistence are virtues that a good writer and blogger should always practice.

These four are very good and I would like to add one more point, seeing no income flow :) I mean there are people who start their blogs in hope of earning money online like others through Affiliate Marketing or Adsense but when they see not much great results, they lose hope and leave it. I think those four reasons do contribute to this fifth reason. They need to market their blog, put in unique and good content and yes most of the blog starters cannot afford to outsource assignments so they try their hands at first but blogs yes are like an investment as well. If you’ve got readers, traffic then you can sale products, get advertisements, get more revenues from Adsense. All in all you get to see lots of money flowing through once you are determined to work hard and be patient.

Earning money through blogging is as hard as your job in real-life :) , earning money is never easy.
