One method that i learnt to get instant traffic for your blog is by “pinging” your blog. In blogging, ping is an XML-RPC-based push mechanism by which a weblog notifies a server that its content has been updated. You would like certains websites to be notified when you update or added new content to your blog, so in order to do so, you had to ping your blog to them.
If you are using wordpress 2.5+ , it is relatively simple to do so. Go to settings > Writing > Update Services. Here are a list of “working” websites that i am pinging this blog to.
